10-Year Financial Projection for the Online Church of Druwayu

ESTIMATED 10 YEAR ONLINE COSTS
ESTIMATED 10 YEAR ONLINE COSTS

For those that wish to known what the costs are and why they should donate to help keep the Church online, this information has been provided for sake of public discloser and transparency.

We estimate $62,781 total to operate and secure First Church of Druwayu over the next 10 years under the conservative assumptions below. Recommended fundraising target (rounded, with contingency): $64,000.

Note: that amount covers Wix site hosting & members setup, ongoing security and backups, domain renewal, modest marketing, legal/privacy review, CPA/bookkeeping (Form-990), Oregon state nonprofit fees, and a typical registered-agent cost. It does not include variable payment-processing fees on donations (those are transaction-dependent) and assumes the organization keeps a small fund balance (see notes). Sources for platform fees and state filing fees are cited below.

Key assumptions (read before using the numbers)

  1. Platform & starting configuration

    • Site already on Wix (custom domain connected). We assumed a mid-tier Wix Business/Premium annual cost ≈ $360/year (approx. $30/month). Actual plan selected will change the number. wix.com

  2. One-time startup items (year 1)

    • Membership + pricing-plans configuration and small Velo dev work (2FA option, member pages): $1,500 (one-time).

    • Legal (privacy policy, TOS review, basic counsel): $1,200 (one-time).

    • IRS Form 1023-EZ submission fee (if you use EZ): $275 one-time (or $600 if you file full Form 1023). Source: IRS fee table. IRS

  3. Recurring annual base (year 1 values) — these are the starting recurring items we inflate over time:

    • Wix premium plan: $360 / year. wix.com

    • Domain renewal: $15 / year. Shopify

    • Security & backups / monitoring: $300 / year.

    • Marketing & outreach (Google/Meta ads modest budget): $3,000 / year (first year marketing push).

    • CPA/bookkeeping + Form-990 preparation: $1,000 / year (small nonprofit / simple return estimate). cpaworldtaxllc.com

    • Oregon Secretary of State annual report fee: $50 / year (nonprofit filing fee). Oregon Secretary of State+1

    • Registered agent (if you hire one): $150 / year (you can be your own agent to save this).

    • Misc donation-tool subscriptions / small app fees: $200 / year.

  4. Inflation & trend assumptions (explicit & conservative)

    • General cost inflation (hosting, domain, security, legal, CPA): 3.0% / year. This is a conservative mid-range CPI assumption. (News/economy forecasts show inflation easing but not zero — we use 3% as conservative planning). Financial Times

    • Marketing cost inflation (ads and outreach): 4.0% / year (advertising competition and rising CPMs typically push ad budgets faster than general CPI).

    • One-time items are one-time (no repeat inflator applied).

  5. Charity registration & state fees

    • Oregon nonprofit incorporation / Articles filing: $50 (one-time) per Oregon SOS forms. Annual nonprofit report (Oregon SOS) $50/year. Oregon Secretary of State+1

    • Oregon Department of Justice (Charitable Activities) requires annual reporting; an additional fee can apply based on fund balance for larger organizations. We assume a small fund balance (< $50k) for this projection and therefore no DOJ fund-balance fee (if your fund balance grows above thresholds, the DOJ fee may apply and would increase costs). See notes. Oregon Secretary of State+1

  6. Payment processing / donor fees

    • Wix Payments (example US rate): ~2.9% + $0.30 per transaction — we cite Wix for the typical rate. PayPal/Donorbox/others vary (Donorbox platform fee 2.95% + processor). Payment processing costs are transaction-driven, so they are not included in the fixed yearly totals (they reduce net donations rather than increase operational expenses). We list guidance and examples below. Wix Support Center+1

One-page itemized Year-1 (startup + annual) — base amounts used

One-time (Year 1)

  • Site & membership setup (Wix Members + developer time / Velo): $1,500

  • Privacy/TOS legal review (one-time): $1,200

  • IRS filing fee (1023-EZ): $275 (or $600 for full 1023). IRS

Recurring (annual — Year 1 amounts)

  • Wix premium plan (hosting + custom domain support): $360. wix.com

  • Domain renewal (.com/.org typical): $15. Shopify

  • Security & backups / monitoring: $300.

  • Marketing & outreach (ads): $3,000.

  • CPA / bookkeeping + Form-990: $1,000. cpaworldtaxllc.com

  • Oregon SOS annual report fee: $50. Oregon Secretary of State

  • Registered agent service: $150 (optional).

  • Donation tools / app misc: $200.

Year-1 subtotal (one-time + recurring) = $8,050 (this is the model’s Year-1 total).

  • Calculated year-by-year projection (1 → 10) with the inflation assumptions above

  • Values shown are total annual amounts for each year, including one-time items in Year 1

  • Year 1: $8,050.00

  • Year 2: $5,257.25

  • Year 3: $5,446.17

  • Year 4: $5,642.00

  • Year 5: $5,845.01

  • Year 6: $6,055.45

  • Year 7: $6,273.62

  • Year 8: $6,499.78

  • Year 9: $6,734.26

  • Year 10: $6,977.34

10-year cumulative total: $62,780.88 ≈ $62,781

Rounded and presented for public use as a final single figure: $62,781.

Recommended fundraising target with small contingency rounding: $64,000.

  • This adds roughly 2% contingency to cover variance/early scaling.

  • All per-year numbers were calculated from the base values and the inflation rates listed in Assumptions.

More Details

  • Wix plan & domain: small annual increases only — easy to budget for. If you upgrade plan tiers (to support larger livestream audiences, e-commerce, or additional features) the annual Wix cost can jump considerably — test the required plan before committing. wix.com

  • Legal & CPA fees: we used conservative small-org numbers. If you choose to hire outside counsel for major compliance or if you file the full IRS Form-1023 (instead of 1023-EZ) and use a lawyer/accountant to prepare it, budget $1,500–$5,000 additional one-time legal fees and the higher IRS $600 fee (Form-1023). IRS+1

  • Oregon DOJ charity fees: the DOJ charges an annual report and a fund-balance based fee for larger charities (a tiny percentage of fund balance). If Druwayu grows beyond ~$50k fund balance, factor that additional fee in. See Oregon DOJ guidance. Oregon Secretary of State+1

  • Payment processing & platform fees: Donor platforms (Donorbox) may charge a platform rate (~2.95%) plus the payment processor. Wix Payments example: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction (US). Those fees reduce net donations and grow with revenue, not included in the fixed 10-year totals. Consider offering donors a “cover fees” checkbox to preserve net. Wix Support Center+1

  • Marketing / ad inflation: we used 4% annual increase — if you scale outreach aggressively, marketing may become your largest budget item in later years.

Alternative scenarios (optional quick references)

  • Lean plan (essential operations, no paid marketing, self-managed filings, no registered agent) — approximately $6K–$8K first year and ~$40K over 10 years. (If you remove marketing and hire volunteers for bookkeeping/legal docs, numbers fall.)

  • Growth plan (aggressive outreach, staff/contractor support, higher security/compliance) — $15k+/year after launch; 10-year cost could reach $120k–$180k depending on staff, advertising scale, and program expansion.

Legal & financial fees specific to Oregon (concise)

  • Articles of Incorporation (Oregon SOS) processing fee: typically $50 (state form shows $50 for nonprofit articles). Oregon Secretary of State

  • Annual report / renewal (Oregon SOS): $50 / year for nonprofits. Oregon Secretary of State

  • Oregon DOJ — Charitable Activities: registration and annual financial reporting required; additional fee applies if fund balance falls in fee range — small orgs under typical thresholds often pay no additional fund-balance fee. Budget for compliance & possible small fee if your fund balance grows. Oregon Department of Justice+1

  • IRS exemption application: Form-1023-EZ = $275 or Form-1023 = $600 (user fee) — plus any legal/accounting assistance you hire to prepare the application. IRS

  • Form-990 preparation: typical small nonprofit CPA fee $600–$1,500 depending on complexity; we used $1,000/year in this model. cpaworldtaxllc.com+1

Payment / donation fees you should communicate to donors

  • Wix Payments (sample US rate): 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. Wix Support Center

  • Donorbox (example platform): platform fee ~2.95% (plus processor), though Donorbox recommends donors cover fees where possible. Donorbox

  • PayPal nonprofit rates vary (special charity pricing available on approval); check your nonprofit verification to reduce fees. (See PayPal documentation.) PayPal+1

Final numbers for fundraising

  • 10-year operating & maintenance total (recommended model): $62,781

  • Rounded recommended fundraising goal if achieved (includes contingency): $64,000

  • Immediate (Year-1) funding need to launch securely: $8,050 (covers startup + first year recurring costs). Use this if you want a short “seed” campaign.

Action items I recommend you include in the fundraiser text

  1. State the Year-1 ask ($8,050) as the immediate launch goal and the 10-year ask ($62,781) as the long-term sustainability target. Many campaigns split into "launch" and "sustainability" goals.

  2. Explain donor processing fees and offer the option for donors to "cover fees." Provide transparency about Oregon SOS filings and annual reporting. Oregon Secretary of State+1

  3. Offer named tiers tied to concrete deliverables (e.g., $75 = membership setup for X members; $1,000 = privacy/legal review & compliance).

  4. Upload a one-page budget so major donors see line-items.

Sources (most important)

  • Wix Payments service fees (US example: 2.9% + $0.30). Wix Support Center

  • Donorbox pricing and platform fee example (standard plan platform fee 2.95%). Donorbox

  • Oregon SOS nonprofit forms / Articles of Incorporation (processing fee & annual report guidance). Oregon Secretary of State+1

  • Oregon DOJ Charitable Activities — registration and annual reporting requirements and fund-balance fee policy. Oregon Department of Justice+1

  • IRS user fees for Form-1023 / 1023-EZ (current user fees: $275 / $600). IRS

  • CPA/Form-990 preparation typical cost ranges (used for $1,000/year estimate). cpaworldtaxllc.com+1

Notes, caveats, and next steps (short)

  • These numbers are estimates: exact Wix plan choice, number of paid members, ad reach, and fundraising volume will materially change totals. I used conservative inflation and modest growth assumptions; if you expect rapid expansion (hiring staff, large ad campaigns), the 10-year total will increase.

Note: I excluded variable payment processing fees from the fixed 10-year total because they depend on donations raised.
